Loess Plateau - A Unique China Origin Sandstone

    Stone Introduction

    Stone Concept

    • Loess Plateau in China

      Loess Plateau in China

Loess Plateau located in middle north of China is the world's largest loess (yellow earth) area which began to form since the Quaternary age.

The soil erosion of loess in the plateau is the main source of sediment in the Yellow River which goes through the plateau. The Yellow River is not only the most sandy river in the world, but it forms in the loess plateau region a unique geological appearance called 'a Loess Landform' which has thousands of ravines and ditches.

The Loess Plateau sandstone is quarried in the plateau. It brings us the simple and plain color tone that only the Loess Plateau has.

    Quarry & Raw Stone

    • Raw stones of Loess Plateau sandstone

Raw stones of Loess Plateau sandstone split and cut into slabs at the quarry

Raw stones of Loess Plateau are cut and trimmed at the quarry.

Loess Plateau sandstone has a hard-wearing surface by splitting the stone block. This process is similar to that of a typical slate which has a riven/cleft surface upon split.

Loess Plateau is rich in color variation which is the major beauty of natural stone. It can be produced into series of walling and paving products. It's good for courtyards, villas, clubhouses, squares and other architectural decoration projects.

    Stone Tile

Due to its rich colors, Loess Plateau tiles have a strong visual impact in any projects using this sandstone material.

    Sawn Tile

    Standard Size

The standard sawn tile we produce are sized at:

The major surface finish obtained is no doubt a natural cleft, riven finish.

    Tumbled Tile

The most common method of 'tumbling process' is to cut the stone to the same size and place them into a rubber drum / barrel along with abrasive grit (rocks, sand etc.) and water. The tiles are literally tumbled over and over while the sand, rocks and water wear down their edges and soften their finish. Tumbled tiles not only have slightly rounded edges and corners but also a smooth and worn look.

We have been trying to cut Loess Plateau sandstone into brick size tile to intimate antiqued style bricks. Such stone application here looks tremendously impressive.

    Flagstone

Natural stone flagging stone comes in irregular random shape and size, trimmed with snapped, chopped or sawn edges.

A specified size of D(150-450) x T20-30mm is recommended for this material in random stone either for paving or walling.
